About Billings

Established in 1882 along the Yellowstone River, Billings is the biggest city in Big Sky country. Situated at the base of an expansive wall of sandstone rimrock, it has striking presence, which is befitting of its Wild West sensibility. The city takes its name from Frederick Billings, who was President of the Northern Pacific Railroad, and today the city serves primarily as trade and manufacturing center.
